In a world that has become so consumer based, I think there is space to bring back a classic homemade gift. I have gifted SO many homemade things over the years- wall hangings, aprons, personalized cups, etc. I think there is something so special about crafting something for someone because 1. it takes thought to come up with an idea 2. there is so much room to personalize something homemade! So here is a round up of 10 fun homemade gift ideas to get you going this holiday season:
Fabric bookmarks! Check out some fun ideas HERE. This is perfect for any reader in your life. There are so many ideas and options to make these from felt to embroidery to vinyl on acrylic bookmarks!
Aprons. There are tons of patterns online to sew your own apron or maybe you don’t sew, you could get an already made apron and personalize it with vinyl or fabric paint!
Homemade candles. I haven’t made any yet but there are SO many tutorials on Pinterest to make homemade candles. Thrift some cute teacups or other containers for a cute personalized option too!
Recipe book. Maybe you cooking is your thing but cooking for others isn’t an option for you to gift. What if you made your favorite recipes into a cookbook to give as a gift?! You could use Canva to assemble your recipe book easily and then get them printed!
Painted tea towels. I have done these several times over the years. You can use stencils, cut stencils on a Cricut, or even use cookie cutters as a stamp! There are endless possibilities!
BBQ/grilling box. Okay so maybe this doesn’t fall into a “homemade” category exactly but a perfect option for the grilling fanatic! Get a fun box and fill it with different seasonings, grill tools, gift card to a butcher etc!
Bread and butter basket. If you are a sourdough queen or just love baking your own bread, think out of the box and instead of just gifting a loaf of bread, thrift a basket and include a loaf of bread, homemade butter, and maybe a cute tea towel!
Wood burned custom cutting board. I bought a wood burning tool years ago and I have used it for a variety of projects over the years. One year I did custom cutting boards and custom wood kitchen utensils. It was so much fun to make different designs for family members!
Food mixes. Hot chocolate mix, cookie mix, dip mixes etc. This is such a fun idea for someone that you want to gift a consumable to. There are tons of ideas on Pinterest!
Embroidered item. Embroidery is becoming all the rage and can be really simple to do! You can embroider towels, shirts, sweatshirts, bags, sweaters, blankets etc. The options are endless!
The key is to think about who you are wanting to make a gift for, what skills you have and what can you do that combines both of them! Personalized homemade gifts are far more meaningful than a gift card or a gift box you grab from the store (though if that is your style, that is okay too!!).
